Hey there, lovely clients! I'm here to guide you through the exciting process of preparing for your upcoming photoshoot. From knowing what to bring to anticipating unexpected weather changes, I've got you covered with some essential tips and tricks. So, let's dive right in and ensure that you have an unforgettable and stress-free photoshoot experience!
Wardrobe and Changing Locations
One of the first things to consider is your wardrobe selection. Choose outfits that make you feel confident and reflect your personal style. If you're unsure, don't worry! We can always discuss clothing options beforehand to find the perfect ensemble for your photoshoot. When it comes to changing locations, it's essential to know where you can freshen up. Some shoot locations may have restroom facilities nearby, while others might require a bit more creativity. Rest assured, we can discuss this beforehand to ensure a comfortable changing experience.
Transportation
If you're taking your pictures anywhere other than your house, you'll need to have some kind of transportation. Whether you drive yourself, have a friend or family member drive you, catch an Uber, or even a bus, make sure you know how you're getting to your shoot location ahead of time. Time is valuable so let's be sure not to waste any!
Parking and Location Logistics
To avoid any last-minute stress, familiarize yourself with the parking situation at your chosen shoot location. Some areas may have parking restrictions or require permits, so it's a good idea to plan ahead.
Weather Woes and Backup Plans
While we can't control the weather, we can certainly be prepared for unexpected changes. Keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your shoot day and anticipate any weather alterations that may affect the shoot. If rain or other inclement weather seems likely, we'll discuss backup options to ensure we can capture stunning photos, rain or shine!
Bring Extra Everything
It's always better to be safe than to be sorry! So, bring extra safety pins, water, hair clips/ties, confetti, etc. - emphasis on any props. Just in case of a wardrobe malfunction, accident, or bloopers, you'll be prepared.
Props and Personal Touches
If you have any props or personal items that hold special meaning to you, feel free to bring them along. Props can add a unique touch to your photos and help tell your story. Whether it's a favorite book, a beloved instrument, or anything else that showcases your personality, I'm always open to incorporating them into our shoot.
Stay Hydrated and Energized
During summertime shoots, it's crucial to stay hydrated, especially if we'll be outdoors for an extended period. Be sure to bring water with you to keep yourself refreshed and energized throughout the session.
You'll Probably be Uncomfortable at First
Unless you're constantly standing in front of a camera or have had exposure to it, you'll probably be awkward and nervous at first. Don't worry - it's completely normal! Just like trying something new, you have to get used to being in front of a camera, being the center of attention, and posing (possibly while others are watching if the shoot is in a public place). As time goes on, you'll start to feel more comfortable. By the end of the shoot, you'll practically be a professional model.
Relax and Enjoy the Process
Last but certainly not least, remember to relax and enjoy the process! Photoshoots are meant to be fun, and my goal is to create a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for you. Don't stress about posing or looking "perfect." In fact, candid shots are usually popular picks! Just be yourself, embrace the moment, and let me capture your unique essence.
Of course, every individual shoot is going to have different needs but these are the basic things to bring, prepare, and know. As your photographer, I'm committed to ensure you get some great pictures and have an even greater time while taking them.
If you have any questions about this or are nervous about an upcoming shoot and need a pep talk, let me know - I'm happy to help! I can't wait to bring your picture dreams to life. (:
